Experience and Education
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California License #131142) and currently provide telehealth to California residents, primarily via video conference call. I bring extensive experience in mental healthcare, trauma and resilience work, somatics, creative expression, and social justice.
I began working in Community Mental Healthcare in 2000, and continued until 2020. In 2012, I began to add somatic psychotherapy to my work. I obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies, with a special focus in Somatic Psychotherapy.
In 1999 I received a Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts from Prescott College, which continued into 20+ years (and growing) of experience in dance and movement practice and performance. Prescott College was my introduction to dance, movement, and somatics, under the tutelage of Delisa Myles. Those years continue to greatly inform my somatic lens in approaching therapy.
approach
I value respect, playfulness, authenticity, depth and range of emotion, and following the body and our defenses, as they are here to protect us. Social Justice and Anti-Oppression work is vital to the work I do, and how I engage with people in therapy, and in the world.
